It's Thursday... Almost the weekend!

It's Thursday which means the weekend is almost here! For a lot of you... today may be a day to grab a drink at happy hour with a co-worker or two. If you do, here is definitely some pointers you should know

1. Don't over do it. If you drink too uch and say something you shouldn't have about someone or something, you should assume that it could get back to that person. Keep it classy! 2 drink max, or here's one... do you really need alcohol to have a good time?
2. Don't talk about people at the office. Instead, why not talk about places or things, actually get to know your co-workers! Working in an environment with people you know can be more uplifting and satisfying. Don't be a complainer!
3. If you're going out with someone who maybe you have an interest in, make sure you know what you're doing. So, let's say you're a young woman grabbing a drink with a man and another woman from the office and the man is someone who find attractive. Have a plan, if you're going to flirt, is this a relationship you may want to have? If it's just "fun", save it for someone else. You don't want a reputation like that at the office. And, if you do want a relationship, make sure you are not going to bring drama to the office. If you are the type of girl that needs the excitement o drama or always have the attention, a work relationship is not for you. If you can go on with your day with your boyfriend sitting next to, focus and get your work done, then hey! You go for it girl!

So quick re-cap, keep it classy, don't do or say anything "stupid", talk about places and things and common interests, watch yourself to ensure you have a good reputation! Have a good night ladies!

EVER FEEL LIKE YOUR SLUMMING IT?

Ever have a day where you would just love to roll out of bed and go in pajamas. It's okay. We all have those days. Well, what about us that HAVE to or feel a serious need to look presentable? Fear no more! Follow these 3 key points and you can never go wrong
1. Pick your outfit out the night before. Why? When you wake up, it's already done. Saves you the time of thinking "hm what to wear today?" And takes you much longer.
2. Wear light make up to go for a natural look. First off, natural look is in. Two, less make up. Less time. I honestly only use a little eye makeup- eye shadow, mascara and eye liner. Sometimes I switch it up and only do two, but mascara is a must of mine. A little blush and some lip color. You don't need to look like you're going to a club and wearing no makeup you make look a little pale this time of year so just a little freshen up in the morning.
3. WEAR AN UPDO! OR ACCESSORIZE your hair. Lately I’ve felt a little weird at work for wearing my hair up and wondered. Geez do people think I rolled out of bed? Here are a few ideas
- Poof with bun or pony
-head band! This can be worn with down, bun or pony. I was never much of an adult that wore headbands and thought maybe I looked like a child. Recently I bought some head bands and it's been great! The nights I don't wash my hair I think to myself fear not! I have a head band!
-pony with wrap around braid. Put your hair in a pony, take a little hair, make a braid and wrap around scrunchie.
- go to Clair's and get the donut hope for a bun. Put hair in pony. Place donut at tip, flip hair over and roll down
- For those of you more advanced you can do a French braid the night before and sleep on it
I highly recommend going to an accessory store, like Billito in Shops of North Brunswick or Walgreens, CVS, Riteaid and see what little things they have!

COLORS FOR THE SEASON

Just a quick little note! Here's some great Colors to wear this winter season and why

CLASSICS black, Greys, tans and browns. always a classic! goes well with the Dingy cold and a lot of sweaters tend to come in these colors

EXPRESS YOURSELF on a cold day, why not wear a bright color like cyan, yellow or magenta? These are the colors that make all other colors and when it's dark dreary day why not be the one to brighten yourself, the room and everyone around you. Little accents like jewelry, scarves or shoes or even a shirt will do it.

Colors to avoid: pastels- save ‘em for the spring and summer. White, though the Labor Day to Memorial Day rule has been out ruled and overturned now a days, work your other colors, don’t accent with white and keep it to a minimum. Instead of straight white, go for off whites or creams.

NEED NEW OUTFITS FOR WORK?

My absolute favorite go-to store for relaxing clothes, work clothes and out clothes can all be bought at Express! Right now (the sale ends today) you can get 25$ off 100$, 50$ off 200$, and $75 off $300. If you're a rewards member don't forget you get points and I've heard some people getting double points this month for purchases!

Any way! Not only is there the coupon as mentioned above, the clearance items are at additional percentage off! Last night I bought three dresses, 2 belts, a pair of jeans, a sweater and a shirt for under $225! The one dress was priced at 100$ and I got it for $25. Another dress was priced at $60 and I got it for only $10! Talk about a steal! I highly recommend to go online shopping here for any of your fashion or accessory needs! They have cute belts, bags, shoes, scarves and jewelry!

New Year's Resolution

Resolution shmzolution! As I've heard it say ... "Why wait for a new year to become a better you?" Find out who you want to be and think about what you need to do to get there. Let's say you're newly out of college with a business degree and you want to start helping with non profit organizations but don't know how. Here's what you should do. Sit down, paper and pen ready to go and start writing you're little heart out! What's your goal? Work for a non profit organization. Do I have what it takes? Yes, I have a bussiness degree and love to help others. Who do I want to help? I love being able to help children and animals.  Note to sel: look up organizations for both. Should I further my education? It always helps. If you can't find a job and are able to go back to school, go! If you can't find and a job in the field and can't afford to go to school. Find a job where you can make money respectably, retail, waitressing, etc. and donate your time to organizations such asanimal shelters or children's hospitals. If you can find a a job and can afford school, think if you can manage to do both or how you could some day. If you can find a job, but can't afford school, school will always be there so save up!  Then from there, keep thinkin on smaller oals and ideas to get you to where you want to be! You can do whatver you want in life you just have to picture yourself doing it and go after it! Never be afraid to ask for help and set goals and want feed back. Everyone deserves a lot in life so make it the best!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year all! Good luck with all of your new year's resolutions and findin the best in yourself!

Check out our newest ASSETS lady!!!

This month’s feature on an ASSETs lady is delayed and I apologize, we all know how things can be around the holidays! I would like to introduce you all to yet again, as we all love, another young, successful woman Laura Frey. Laura is 25 and currently working towards her master’s degree of Corporate and Public Communication at Monmouth University. She is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Laura told me about her involvement at Penn State. While working towards her degree she “was a part of the Pennsylvania State University’s ComRadio which is an online radio news station.  I worked for the news radio station from September, 2007 to May, 2008.  I also worked as a videographer for the Pennsylvania State University’s Television station PSN-TV in 2008.  Currently, I am not a part of any organizations.  I am seeking a job position in broadcast media and working towards completing my Master’s degree.  However, I am interested in joining organizations that will enhance my skillset and offer networking events”. This sounds like a very busy lady, if you ask me! So far out of all our ASSETS features you can see these girls all have or will be graduating from college with desires to go on with their education and all very involved with extracurricular activities at their school.
So what is Laura’s story? As heard by Laura, “I am a Graduate student at Monmouth University pursuing a degree in corporate and public relations communications.  I believe that in this current economy, I will have leverage over other applicant’s competiting for the same position.  I recently completed an internship at a prestigious news station in New York City.  At this time, I am seeking employment in a news station while completing my final course work in graduate school”. Laura is a very hard worker and knows what she wants to do now and in the long run. She always has a plan and sets out to stick to it and follow through.
Since Laura always has a plan she was asked, where do you see yourself in a year… five… 10…? Laura responded with “In a year, I hope to be working in a newsroom for a prestigious television news station and learning new skills for position advancement.  In five years, I hope to be working in a news station as a producer or as an on camera reporter.  In ten years, I plan on being a senior anchor, reporter, or producer”. As I personally know Laura since we are classmates, I can truly say this ASSETS lady has her head on straight and always has a plan. This girl is very successful at such a young age as she worked for Telemundos after college, went for her master’s degree, was offered an internship with cablevision and has interned with Fox news. Anyone can learn a lot from this lady! So, why not right!?
Here is what you can learn from Laura. You can succeed as she does if you find a quote to live by and practice your own preaching. Below are Laura’s quotes she lives by and
Always be a first rate version of yourself,
not a second rate version of somebody else
Judy Garland

I’ve been lucky.  Opportunities don’t often come along.
So, when they do, you have to grab them.
Audrey Hepburn

“I would give is to study hard, work hard, and never give up.
Always stay focused and determind and you will reap the
rewards.”
                                                            Laura Frey

Thank you all so much for taking the time to learn about our newest ASSETS lady and Laura thank you so much for wanting to help young ladies how to be a better version of themselves. Take care all and happy New Year!
